LMT MWS 14.5″ 6.5 Creedmoor MRGG-A Reference Rifle – Factory SBR
The MRGG-A began with a demanding question: how do you give an assaulter the reach and precision of a mid-range gas gun without burdening them with a full-length precision rifle? USSOCOM’s answer was the Mid-Range Gas Gun – Assault program, built around 6.5 Creedmoor and a compact 14.5-inch configuration intended to push range and accuracy beyond traditional assault-rifle platforms. After years of development and competitive evaluation, LMT Defense was selected for the MRGG-A program in 2025, receiving a 10-year USSOCOM contract covering rifles, spares, accessories, training, and continued engineering support.
The LMT MRGG-A Reference Rifle brings that program lineage into a factory-produced commercial configuration. Built on LMT’s MWS/MARS-H architecture, it combines a purpose-built 14.5-inch stainless 6.5 Creedmoor barrel with the distinctive MRGG-A monolithic upper, forward assist and matching serrated carrier. Underneath is LMT’s fully ambidextrous MARS-H lower and the modular barrel system that has long defined the MWS family. The result is not simply an MWS styled after a contract rifle—it is LMT’s factory reference version of the compact 6.5 Creedmoor platform developed around the MRGG-A requirement.
